About Trust Onion
Trust Onion makes a free app that helps people confirm who is really on the other end of a call. It is aimed at friends, families, clubs, teams and colleagues, and also at banks and family offices that want a branded version for their own clients. The company says AI voice cloning and fake video have made a familiar voice or a matching caller ID unreliable, so a simple check is needed before money or access changes hands. The app gives each member of a private circle three codewords. These are generated on the phone itself, change every 60 seconds and are not held on the company's servers. When a call comes in, the person answering asks the caller to say all three words and compares them privately in the app. For cases where more proof is wanted, a user can send a Proofie, a selfie signed with a passkey after Face ID, fingerprint or passcode. The signed record includes a recent Arbitrum One block hash as a public reference point, and nothing is written to the blockchain. Proofies are public by default, can be password protected and can be deleted.
