About MailRoute
MailRoute is a cloud email security provider. It filters inbound mail before it reaches a customer's server, or hosts mailboxes itself. The service targets phishing, impersonation, ransomware and spam. It works with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and on-premises mail servers. Setup involves changing MX records, with no hardware or endpoint agents. Pricing starts at $2 per user per month for filtering and $5 for hosted mail. A free 30-day trial is offered. The company says it was founded in 2003 by Thomas A. Johnson, who earlier launched Big Fish Communications, later FrontBridge Technologies, which Microsoft acquired and turned into Exchange Online Protection. MailRoute describes itself as self-funded and focused only on email security. It runs its own datacenters rather than renting cloud capacity. It offers a 99.999% uptime SLA and store-and-forward queuing for up to 15 days. Email Continuity keeps 30 days of clean mail available through webmail. Hosted Mail provides 50GB IMAP mailboxes, webmail and forwarding.
